Paul is co-founder and producer of the West End’s Notes from New York series, for which he has headlined shows at the Donmar Warehouse, the Arts Theatre and the Trafalgar Studios, as well as Not(es) from New York, a British edition of the series at the Duchess Theatre, two instalments of Christmas in New York at the Apollo Theatre and the Lyric Theatre respectively, and Notes in Heels back at the Duchess Theatre.
He most recently played Jamie in the gala staging of Jason Robert Brown’s The Last 5 Years at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in celebration of the fifth anniversary of Notes from New York and co-produced the third instalment of Christmas in New York.
Paul is also co-founder and Creative Director of Speckulation Entertainment, for which last year he had the pleasure of co-producing A Spoonful of Stiles & Drewe as the company’s inaugural show and releasing a live highlights recording of the evening.
Paul trained at Arts Ed, where he was the recipient of the Andrew Lloyd Webber Scholarship. On completion of his course, he immediately made his West End debut at the Prince of Wales Theatre in the juvenile lead of Michael Spofford in Cameron Mackintosh’s production of The Witches of Eastwick. He then played Nick Piazza in the national tour of Fame and subsequently joined the cast of the Boy George musical Taboo, in which he played the role of Billy many times.
His other theatre credits include: Prince Charming in Cinderella for QDOS; Prince Alexander in Sleeping Beauty at the Nottingham Playhouse; Kevin in the UK workshop of Debbie Does Dallas for Adam Kenwright; an international production of Evita, directed by Nikolai Foster, in Beirut; the UK tour of Saturday Night Fever; the UK premičre of Little by Little at the Arts Theatre in the West End; and the role of George Mortimer in the world premičre of The Musical Medium at the Landor Theatre in South London.
Paul played Daniel Pontipee in the UK tour of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and premičred his solo show Something in Common, which he also devised and directed, at the Theatre Museum in Covent Garden, following which he completed a year-long contract in the international tour of the smash hit musical Mamma Mia!. He regularly teaches at Arts Ed in London and his other credits include: performing with New York’s award-winning Rick Skye in A Slice O’ Minnelli during its London premičre; appearing as a guest artist on Julie Atherton’s debut album A Girl of Few Words; starring in the internationally acclaimed music video for Uniting Nations’ top ten hit single ‘Out of Touch’ and acting as Assistant Director for An Asylum on Every Corner at the Edinburgh Festival.
Last year he played Tobias in a brand new staging of Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd at the Gothenburg Opera in Sweden and performed in the symphonic concerts The Music of Dirty Dancing and Beatlemania around the UK and also in Dublin.
